It’s no secret that this year’s election will bring me to a voting booth in Georgia and I’ll be selecting the candidate of my choice – Ron Paul.
Regardless of the mindless drivel I continue to hear on the radio and television, or read in newspapers, I will stick to my belief that in order for things to change in this country – we need a strong leader. Not the “learned” politician who from the time he/she was born has increased his/her knowledge of the world by learning how to smile, how to cry, or properly wave to the crowd. The millions – oh, let’s just say billions – of dollars they spend trying to shove more shit up our ass, or dazzling us with their newest “wars of worlds” epic that only they have the answer to is making me sick.
This morning, I heard one talk radio host say something along the lines of, “See, Americans shouldn’t feel manipulated…”
We shouldn’t, huh?
Part of the problem, as I see it, is that all the media in this country is owned by about five – FIVE – companies. Yes, television, print, and radio can be swayed to one’s way of thinking with enough of one’s useless greenbacks or need I say it – favors.
Another issue that has recently come to light; my better half and I met a guy who works for a software firm who – get ready – scans all the internet sites for any mention of a certain politician or a certain politician’s agenda. If they don’t like what they’re reading, tomorrow’s “news” (or propaganda as I see it) will bring a whole new set of ideas or ideals from the same candidate. Why the switch? Popular opinions do still count.
No matter how small the blogger is, no matter how many people read him/her it has become a necessity for these candidates to pay attention. And guess why? Throughout history, governments have not changed things for the better; people have. In most cases just a handful of people, little groups, have initiated “change.” It starts out as a ripple in the waters of the populace, then grows into waves, and is soon found sweeping across countries like tidal waves. This is enough to scare any government.
Still think that all the news is reported for us to make our own judgments. Think again. Green Hell posted a piece a few days ago, entitled Puke Chunks O’ News – And News O’ Puke Chunks. One would be better off reading it; hell, I swear the news reports from this morning’s broadcast have taken a few quotes from it – if they’re reading it, why not my readers? At least, one can read it first hand and make one’s own conclusions.
Are we being manipulated?
Well, I have had the honor and privilege of meeting a very unique individual this year – Chip. He has given me permission to post a piece he wrote:
“I travel the whole country top to bottom and side to side. I don't get near a TV but once a month if I'm lucky. I try to be informed. I listen to news and talk radio. Every time the Lying Cock Suckers (Presidential Candidates) have a primary, I never hear the name Ron Paul. I find this strange considering that while crossing this country (Chip is a truck driver) I rarely see a sign prominently displayed for anyone but Ron Paul.
In my home state of Washington, the only way you could avoid a Paul sign is through blindness. I did see two Romney signs in Utah. If you were to drive I-80 coast to coast, the thousands of Ron Paul signs would lead you to believe that Paul were as popular as BBQ. So why doesn't Paul rate any mention in the news?
I heard Sean Hannity apologizing for Romney's Liberal Past, I thought that CNN host Glenn Beck was gonna get on his knees and blow Romney in an interview. On Fox news (Fair and Balanced), I listened to Rudy Giuliani turn a question about the up coming Super Bowl into a story about how he handled 9/11. I guess It really doesn't matter. In 1774 our fore fathers went ape shit over a tax of 5 cents on five pounds of tea. At the time, only the rich drank tea. Most colonials drank coffee. So what would it take for us to go down to the port and throw barrels of oil over in revolt? How long will “we the people” continue to get fucked election after election before we say enough is enough?
Our system of government is so thoroughly fucked up it isn't even funny. Imagine Thomas Jefferson running for president today. He smokes weed and has four kids with his black girlfriend who he refuses to marry.
George Washington, we don't think your swift boat was anywhere near the action Christmas of 1778. You’re a flip flopper. You were for freeing the slaves before you were against it.
John Q. Adams was an ambulance chaser. He defended Pirates who stole a ship from corporate interests (Slaves on a slave ship overpowered the slavers
and took over the slave ship).
Every state should secede from the Union. Every single person that voted for the Patriot Act violated his or her oath of office "to protect and defend the constitution." The fact that the Supreme Court didn't strike down the "Patriot Act" as being unconstitutional is further cause. The suspicion of Habeas Corpus by the executive branch is further cause.
Our collective need for Federal Government has past into history. They fuck up wars they should win quickly and decisively, they fuck up disaster relief, and they pass laws we don't want or need.
Oh well, Let freedom ring if you can afford it...
I'm Out.”
Still think we are not being manipulated?
I just LOVE Chip (not that that's news), and I agree that we are, indeed, being manipulated. Always have been. It's what leaders do. Hell, it's what WRITERS do. I'm taking a different stance with this election, but I'd like to think I'm doing it for the right reasons. :)
